(34) Wound induced polyploidy
Her is an interesting point. In this article ![]()
the authors discuss the "use" of polyploidy as an initial mechanism to restore tissue structure. Local cells swell and become polyploid in a first pass (?) technique to restructure tissues. So, there seems to be a positive reason for these apparently miscreant cells and – of course – they are very characteristic of tumour tissues.
